Other big home improvement project

Our other big project is our basement bathroom. When we bought this house we planned to add a third bathroom in the basement. We have a two story house and both baths are on the second level. This was a huge pain when we potty-trained Braeden. If you were down in the basement, you had to run up two levels to the top floor to get to the bathroom. The basement was never intended to have a bathroom. So, it's a pretty major project to have the plumbing brought in. This space used to be a big long bedroom. Now it will be a smaller bedroom that we will use as our guest bedroom and office. They framed the walls today and installed the shower. We are so excited that this is moving along. My dad is coming over tonight to help JP do the electrical. Then, the drywallers will come Thurs. We'll do the flooring and paint when the dry walls in. We are so excited to have this done. When it's all done

Old Tile

Here's a picture of our other bathroom so you can see what the tile used to look like. This was in the shower and all around the tub and into the window sills. It was real popular 15-20 years ago. I wish I would have taken a before picture of our bathroom. I'll post pictures when it's done.

Life's too short to scrub grout

There's a lot of messy home improvement projects going on at our house. We are re-doing our master bathroom. Jeff spent several days tearing out tile and dry wall. It was a mess because there was concrete backerboard and wire meshing that was so hard to get out. We have a stand up shower in there as well as a jetting tub with surround. He pulled out the tile from both. We are having cultured marble and granite put in it's place. I am so looking forward to this as I hate cleaning tile. Jeff (with the help of a very kind neighbor), re-tiled the floor. He still just has to grout it. Next week the cultured marble/granite should go in. I painted the walls and the vanity. I still just have some touch up paint to do and I am going to distress the vanity. Fun stuff.

Tanner loves the balloons

Tanner loved looking at Carter's birthday balloons. He just seemed so intrigued. He is almost 5 months old now. He is doing pretty good now. He's a lot less fussy. He is such a sweet little guy and it is so awesome to see him discovering new things.

Carter tries riding a bike for the first time

Carter seems interested in trying to learn how to ride a bike. I think he looked so cute! He still doesn't quite have the pedaling motion down. You can tell that he's proud to feel like a big boy like Braeden though.

My three sons

There's not a whole lot of activities that all three boys can do together. But, now with nicer weather we've discovered that they can all swing together. Carter could stay on the swing for hours saying "push me" over and over again. I think Tanner just likes being outside for a change of scenery--winter seemed to last forever and we were soooo cooped up!

Nice trailer

Braeden discovered that he could put the little trike on back of the Big Wheels trike and pull Carter around. Carter loves just being pulled around. What boys!

Nothing to brag about...

Here's a picture of the elaborate (or not so elaborate) cake I made for Carter. I decided that I'm not really into decorating and making cakes. So, I just took Carter to the dollar store where he picked out the race cars to go on his cake. The important thing is that he loved it.

Carter's Birthday

Well, the "terrible two's" officially begin. We just celebrated Carter's birthday. We had a great little celebration for him. The boys have been anticipating the new commuter rail train here. It just went up and running, so we took them for a ride on the "choo choo" train. My parents came too. Carter and Braeden loved it. We are so thankful for our little Carter. He seriously is so fun. He has such a cute little personality. It was great to celebrate his life and how much he means to our family. We love ya Carter.

"Silly" Me

Braeden has been looking forward to "Silly Day" at Preschool for a while now. I had a ditsy moment and mixed up the dates. I sent him to school all dressed up silly. When we showed up to school, I saw other children walking in dressed as usual. I knew I'd messed up. Sorry Braeden. He didn't seem to mind much. He is now looking forward to a second Silly Day.

Finally

One of my favorite t.v. shows is "The Office". It just cracks me up! I guess after working in human resources for a few years, I appreciate all of the crazy things that happen on that show. I know it's exaggerated, but seriously I can relate to so many things that happen in that office. Toby's not quite a typical HR person though. He lets a lot slide and I find myself wanting to direct his actions a little bit. But, anyways the show is so funny. I am so glad the writer's strike is finally over so I can have a good laugh every Thursday night.
